FAQs

What's the difference between audio book production, audio book publishing, and audio book distribution?

We offer three different services, allowing authors/publishers to choose the best way to get their book(s) into audio and distribute them.

Audio Book Production - Author/Publisher pays up front for the cost of producing the audio book and owns the resulting audio book. The author can distribute the audio book in any way s/he sees fit and reap 100% of profits.

Audio Book Publishing - We pay all costs of producing the audio book, distribute it, and split net earnings with author/publisher 50/50.

Audio Book Distribution - An author/publisher who already has an audio book, and simply needs access to distribution channels can work with us and receive 75% on net earnings.

I still don't get it. I'm an author with one book - which should I choose? Production or Publishing?

Our publishing program is best suited for authors with a proven sales track record. We look at Amazon rankings, web presence, awards, and name recognition when we make our decisions, as well as the quality of the manuscript you submit.

We accept submissions year round, but we have two reading periods per year - September/October and April/May. We choose approximately 25 - 30 titles from each batch of submissions we receive. Audio books are published approximately 6 - 12 months after we contract them. If a manuscript really catches our attention, we will make arrangements with the author outside our normal reading periods.

Our production program is best suited for lesser-known authors, authors who want more control over the process, authors who want their audio book produced more quickly, and publishers who want to produce multiple audio books.

We charge a fixed cost for audio book production - $300 per 10,000 words and set firm deadlines for production. We can work with your schedule. If you are interested in Audible's ACX program, we can provide you with high quality files and help you navigate the uploading system.

Do you have a narrator that's right for my book?

We work with a variety of voice actors and actresses, young and old, male and female. If we don't have the right voice for your project, we'll find one! We give all authors the chance to review demo narrations and have input into the processing of choosing a voice for their project.
